The Believer’s Freedom

Do American Christians care about truth at all?

Do American Christians care about truth at all?

Do American Christians care about truth at all?  That should be a dumb question.  Dumb in the sense that all Christians care about truth.  Don’t we?  Sadly, apparently not.

The headline from NBC News reads: RNC airs video clip of ‘Biden’s America’ — it was actually Barcelona.  Just in case you’re not aware of it, Barcelona is in Spain.  You know – Spain, as in the country across the Atlantic.  In Europe.  Not in America.  Although some people, notably our President – Trump – don’t seem to know this.  Or maybe just flat out don’t care?

Don't let your skills atrophy

Don’t settle for less, #03: don’t let your skills atrophy

I’ve often said one of the awesome things I expect in Heaven is to learn, forever, from the Creator of everything.  But hey – this says we can start now.  We don’t have to wait ’til the next life.

The mind of the Creator is available to us right now.  And all we have to do is not let our Creator given skills atrophy.

A note on happiness

Are we supposed to be happy?  To most people, the answer is probably obvious.  At least it may seem obvious.  But to others, like me, who have issues with depression – the answer is hardly obvious at all.  Being happy can feel like something for other people.  Whether happiness is something to experience can be a question for Christians as well.

The preachers who are into the so-called prosperity gospel, which isn’t in the New Testament, say – of course, God wants us to be happy.  But what does Jesus actually say about being happy during His time on this planet?  Jesus’ words should be shocking to those proponents and believers of that “prosperity gospel”.

I’m asking this question because I’m trying to write this series on The Beatitudes.  You know – the part of the Sermon On The Mount where everything starts with “Blessed are …”?  Well, if you didn’t know already, that can also be translated as “happy are …”.

When you read it, it sounds kind of odd.  Actually – it can sound really odd.

Tears of God? I can't imagine there's even one second when someone isn't doing something to make God cry. Maybe someone who hasn't been saved - dies - and is forever lost. Could be someone who hasn't been saved yet - but will be. Or someone who has been saved - but even then we still continue to sin and hurt God.
